Who we are

This Privacy Policy describes how SpeechNotes+ (“the app,” “we”) handles information when you use the app on iPhone or iPad.

The short version

SpeechNotes+ is designed to keep your recordings, transcripts, translations, and study notes on your device. We do not create an account for you, and we do not operate a server that receives your audio or text.

Information processed on your device

Depending on how you use the app, the following may be processed locally:

• Microphone audio, when you record from the mic
• System audio from another app, when you start a screen broadcast to caption that app
• Speech-to-text transcripts and translations
• Saved sessions, titles you type, summaries, cleaned-up transcripts, flashcards, and quizzes
• Settings such as caption size, language pair, and your remaining free transcription time

These stay in the app’s storage on your device unless you copy, export, or share them (for example via the iOS share sheet).

Permissions

SpeechNotes+ asks for:

• Microphone — to transcribe live speech
• Speech recognition — to turn audio into text
• Screen Broadcast — only if you choose to caption audio from another app

You can turn permissions off in iOS Settings. Some features will not work without them.

Speech recognition and translation

Transcription prefers Apple’s on-device speech recognizer. Translation uses Apple’s on-device Translation framework after you download a language pack.

If a device cannot run on-device recognition for the selected language, Apple’s speech system may process audio under Apple’s privacy policy. We do not receive that audio.

Language packs are downloaded from Apple. That download is a file transfer of models, not your recordings.

On-device study AI

Summaries, cleanup, flashcards, and quizzes run on your device (Apple Intelligence when available, otherwise a local model).

The optional local model is downloaded once (~1 GB) from Hugging Face (mlx-community). That request may include a network address, like any file download. Your transcripts and notes are not uploaded as part of that download. After the model is on your phone, generation can run offline.

Purchases

Weekly, yearly, and lifetime Premium are sold through Apple In-App Purchase. Apple processes payment. We do not receive your full Apple ID, credit card number, or billing address. Apple’s privacy policy applies to the App Store transaction.

What we do not collect

We do not:

• Run our own analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDK
• Sell or rent your information
• Use your audio or transcripts to train our models
• Require an email or SpeechNotes+ account

Sharing

We do not share your audio or transcripts with third parties. If you tap Copy, Export, or Share, you choose where that text goes (Messages, Files, another app, and so on).

Retention and deletion

Sessions remain on your device until you delete them in the app or delete the app. Uninstalling SpeechNotes+ removes locally stored transcripts, notes, and the downloaded AI model cache.

Children

SpeechNotes+ is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes

We may update this policy. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the app after an update means you accept the revised policy.
